Bardiya Jungle Safari

Bardiya National Park is the largest national park of the Country with total coverage of 968 sq. km. The park is situated in the most untouched wilderness zone of the Western Nepal. The Park was designated as Karnali Wildlife Reserve in the year 1976. In 1982 it was renamed as Bardiya Wildlife Reserve and further extended to its current area in the year 1984. The Area was finally designates as Bardiya National Park in the year 1988. The park also has 327 sq km of Buffer zoned which is jointly managed by the local community and park authority.

Bardiya National park offers wide variety of experiences in its vast untouched wilderness. The vegetation of the Park is composed of 70 % of Sal trees with a mix of Grassland and Riverine vegetation. The park has conserved wide varieties of flora and fauna and is home to some of the rare animal species like the Royal Bengal tiger, wild elephant, Greater one-horned rhinoceros, swamp deer, and black buck. Karnali River which flows through the park is home to the endangered species of water animals like gharial-crocodile, marsh mugger and Gangetic dolphin. Some of the endangered birds in the park are Bengal florican, lesser florican and sarus crane. The park holds around 230 species of birds, 30 different mammals and several species of snakes, lizard and fish.
